Great Plains Honey Farms was started in 2010 by Mike Lagsding, a lifelong resident of Grand Island, Nebraska. Mike attended a workshop through the University of Nebraska for Beekeeping. His intention was to learn how to build beehives. During this workshop his interest and love for the Honey Bee began.
After talking to a local beekeeper, Mike purchased his first “package” of bees for a hive. Not knowing much yet about the Bee’s behaviors, this hive “swarmed” or split. Through further learning, Mike was able to recapture his “swarm” thus giving him two hives. A disaster was now a good thing. Thus began Great Plains Honey Farms.
Through the years Mike has learned a lot about Bees and has made his handling of his Bees Natural. Great Plains Honey Farms does not treat the hives with any chemicals or medications, we do not use pesticides and we do not Pasteurize our Honey. Natural is Best for the Bees and People.
