The Plains of Southwestern SD is where the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is located. I call this place home, this is the place I was born, and raised. The great culture of our people, and the richness of our history inspires me to do my very best every day. It has taught my Humility through the storm. This is the main story behind the work that I do, rather if its carving walking sticks, painting, beading, wood cutting, landscaping, playing fast pitch softball and volunteering.
A test that came to me very early in life living here in Pine Ridge, SD was understand the word Patience. The opportunities, and support is very limited here, making it very hard to succeed. The everyday hardship felt within a week, normally happens within in a year. Making it very difficult to breathe. I started doing all my work by doing something different is each season. As well all know how each season is different, that's the same thing with obstacles to overcome here. Being able to put my energy into something I love was the best thing I could've ever done for myself. I take a great deed into everything that I do.
I want to be remembered by the things I've done to help people. I had to love myself in a way where I can also be able to love everyone. I want to clear a path on this tough road were on here. To give that hope to everyone that anything is possible. I'm artwork is very influenced by faith and hope.
