About Us
The Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska– Lincoln was established in 1983, designed to meet the needs of an array of food industry clients including manufacturers, entrepreneurs, suppliers, distributors, associations, retailers, and food service providers. Under the Food Science and Technology department, the FPC also provides a unique experiential learning environment for the next generation.

Ellie Watts
Ellie Watts is currently the Director of the Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She previously served as Director of Research Development at Conagra Brands, Inc., from August 2019 to March 2024. Before that, Ellie was the Manager of Research & Development at Treehouse Foods, Inc., where she worked for three years (February 2016 - August 2019). She also held the role of Manager, R&D at Conagra Brands, Inc., for 14 months (December 2014 - February 2016), and served as a Senior Food Scientist there for three years (March 2012 - December 2014). Earlier in her career, Ellie was the New Product Development Manager at Rembrandt Foods for two years (September 2009 - March 2012). She earned a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology with a Business Option from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2002 - 2004) and an Associate of Applied Science in Food Science & Technology from Southeast Community College (2000 - 2002).
