About Us

Welcome to Wilkinson Companies. We are a family of companies representing multiple ventures and industries in North Platte and throughout the state of Nebraska along the I-80 corridor.

Our original Fat Dogs brand delivers dependability from one edge of the state to the other – with locations spanning I-80 from Lincoln to Sidney. Lincoln, Grand Island, Lexington, North Platte, and Sidney host Fat Dogs convenience stores. North Platte and Ogallala host an expanded Travel Center, designed with frequent travelers and professional drivers in mind. These Travel Center locations offer a variety of expanded fuel options serviced daily by our fuel carrier, Wilkinson Fuel. The newly constructed Travel Centers offer lounge areas, showers, auto and truck accessories and a wide range of quick service food offerings including Subway and Hardees. Our newly acquired Time Saver convenience stores in North Platte offer additional locations for fuel and food.

We have owned and operated hotels since 1997 under the Mid Plains Food and Lodging umbrella. Although the industry continues to evolve one thing stays the same; customer service is as valuable now, as it was then. Delivering the best in Midwest hospitality, our hotel brands include Holiday Inn Express, Best Western Plus and Comfort Inn. We also own a smaller original brand, North Platte Inn and Suites, designed with extended stays in mind. Currently in development is a brand new and exciting restaurant concept called BLOCK. BLOCK will be located at the Holiday Inn Express in North Platte and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024.
