About Us
When I was 11-years-old I had my sixth-grade year cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, I decided I needed to find a new way to keep myself busy. I decided I wanted to start a business, selling fishing apparel and fishing lures. While I attended West Elementary they had INVENTURE Day for Middle School youth developed by University of Nebraska-Lincoln 4H. They helped youth learn what it takes to start a business through first-hand experience while working with adult mentors and entrepreneurs from their own community. Throughout the INVENTURE Day experiences, youth learn about a variety of entrepreneurial topics, including: Product Development, Target Markets, Branding, and Finance. This provided me with a great start on how I could start Brandt Performance.
The fishing connection was a natural for the business. I started fishing when I was 4 years old, with my Grandma. My Grandma worked for the Largest Outfitter Company for 35 years. My Grandma taught me how to cast with a open face real at the age of 6. She has taught me everything I know about fishing. And to continue the family tradition My Grandpa and Uncle continue to take me on fishing trips in South Dakota.
I did all the designing, on my first release which was a blue body that says Get Hooked by Bodhi Brandt and camouflage sleeves that say Fishing on the sleeve. Fishing on the middle back along with Bodhi Brandt at the top middle back. Since my first release I now have added some more amazing UV Sun Protected Long-sleeve Shirts to my line. I've also added some high quality Unisex Fishing Shorts. My Brandt Performance Unisex Fishing Shorts offers UPF 50 Sun Protection, 4-Way Stretch Fabric, Water Repellent, Stain Release, Side Zip Cargo Pocket, Anti-Microbial, and have Perforated Rear Yoke for Comfort and provide Breath-Ability.
I also raise chickens and sells their eggs. I purchased chickens in May 2018, since then I have added 10 more chickens. My chickens are on our family farm which has been in our family for over 100 years. With the money I saved from selling the eggs I invested it towards my fishing business. I want to share my favorite quote from the Bible: Genesis 9:3 “Everything that lives and moves will be food for you.”
I have some thoughts about promotions for my the business, and I even plan to give back to my community. I want to do a special fishing day for all the special needs in Sidney here at the pond in the (Legion) Park. With Covid and not knowing the future I am having to reevaluate when I will be able to put this event on.
When school begins this fall, the business will become secondary to school, but I am determined to work hard and give everything I can to the business I love. This means providing my customers with the best possible service and continuing supply top quality products.
